Ways to deal with Autism
There are many different ways parents can help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to overcome their challenges. while taking care of your child its very much necessary that you take care of yourself first. Being emotionally strong allows you to be the best parent you can be to your child in need.
Following are few ways you can help you deal with autistic child .
1. Give Unconditional love to your child.
Many times as a parent you get angry when your child does not do the things as expected by you.
If you keep on expecting mountains from your autistic kid and associate your happiness and love to the responses or acts of your child, it will hurt your child.
Look at the Autism as different ability than disability. Generally it takes years for parents to understand the real needs to child, you should not be too hard on child.
2. Identify what triggers meltdowns
It is very important to identify what triggers meltdown of the kid, and make sure that those actions or activities are prevented. If parents keep on doing those actions again and again infront of child, it will certainly harm child. 3. Identify Sensory issues
Sensory experiences include touch, movement, body awareness, sight, sound and the pull of gravity. The process of the brain organizing and interpreting this information is called sensory integration.
Sensory integration provides a crucial foundation for later, more complex learning and behavior. Some children with autism generally suffer from sensory issues, eg. Not able to cope with loud noise, or do not like other persons touch or do not like to brush teeth.
You need to identify such issues and take help from sensory integration therapist to deal with such issues.
4. Identify dietary needs
Child might have some issues with the diet he is taking, eg. Digestion, which can upset the child very often, consult dietitian and identify the needs to child and plan to give the food which is healthier to him, diet needs to different for all kids.
Keep your kid (and yourself also) away from fast food and soft drinks, which would lead the kid to obesity (if you compromise once, you have to compromise again and again).
You can try to give gluten free diet & casein free diet if it suites child (it might not suite every child).
5. Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists focus on identifying and eliminating environmental barriers to independence and participation in daily activities, it helps to create structure and organize time.
It is an individualized service aimed at building child’s skills and ability to participate in everyday routines, tasks and activities.
Evidence shows that by working collaboratively with the child and the family to identify and achieve their goals, occupational therapists enable children with ASD to participate more fully in everyday life, reduce parental stress and increase feelings of confident parenting.
6. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Due to surrounding, kids with ADHD might get into other issues like Depression, Anxiety, Panic disorders, Anger Issues, which will escalate their behavior negatively.
Behavior therapy involves teaching children different methods of responding to situations more positively.

Companion animals can be extremely effective in interventions as they offer a powerful multi-sensory stimulus that counteracts the low sensory and affective arousal levels associated with autism.
Animals provide spontaneous behavioural responses which are simple and easy for children to interpret. In its role as an assistance dog, the animal acts as a transitional object, facilitating interactions between the child and other people.
8. Art Based Therapy
Art therapy (also known as arts therapy) is a creative method of expression used as a therapeutic technique.
ABT uses different media: painting, singing, drumming, dance, playing, storytelling and drama in creating a therapeutic relationship between the child and therapist.

10. Play goals and rewards game
